Ghosts of the Steel Road Announcement

With the end of the year approaching, it is time to begin to look at what will be upcoming next year. While I’ll be doing an official 2024 goals post at the beginning of next year, there is one announcement I would like to make a little earlier, just to generate some excitement.

Fall 2024, I’ll be self-publishing my first novel, Ghosts of the Steel Road!

This novel is close to heart for me, as it’s my first solo work that I feel ready to share with the world. I have done group projects which have been released, such as Any Way You Haunt It and some game jam VNs, but I’ve never fully published a solo piece before.

It’s nerve-wracking, but I think the time is nearly right.

More information will come as I finalize which self-publishing route I’ll be choosing, but make sure to keep your eyes peeled here and on my other social media pages! A more distinct timeline will hopefully be put out in early 2024.

Now, for some information on The Ghosts of the Steel Road:

Melandra's father has been gone for two weeks. A simple case, he said, in a little logging town off of the main trade route from the city. Yet when she hears of a string of murders on the road, along with a strange letter arriving at her doorstep, Melandra must choose to throw herself in the fray. Even if that means coming into contact with a mysterious group that holds an even more mysterious prophecy.

Ghosts of the Steel Road is a YA-ish fantasy novel following the story of Melandra, a young woman who finds herself thrust into the spotlight after learning of a potential danger to her and her father. It is the first book in the Prophecy of the Steel Road trilogy, taking place in the port city of Zarothe and its major land trade route of the Steel Road.

Here is an excerpt from the first chapter, as a little teaser of what’s to come:

Life had its rules. Its boundaries. They made things neat, made things easy. Anyone with the right amount of sense learned those rules automatically, and wordlessly breathed them in like the stench that always surrounded the city I grew up in.

Never mix water and hot oil. Protect the time you have away from your workplace, guard it with your life. Know when you plow through a crowd and know when to let the crowd pass you without a fight.

And, most of all, there are two kinds of people in life: somebodies and nobodies.
Know exactly which one you are.
