Oops! I Wrote a Novel Instead of Doing Responsible Tasks: Life Update

So, I definitely disappeared for this past month, so let’s kick Pride Month off with a little life update!

To begin, I finished my third year of college! Settled into an internship for the summer (which will definitely keep me busy), but at least I have no homework to do. Just forty hours a week, and then my evenings and weekends are all to myself. Fingers crossed I’ll get used to it because my fatigue is not happy right now, but at least the mountains are pretty where I am right now.

The Flatirons (a set of mountains) from a distance. The sky is mostly clear with just a few small, white clouds.

Also, with me being in a different place for the summer, especially with a gym in the apartment building, there is now no excuse for me to not work out. That’s happening now! Really focusing on strength stuff (especially more upper-body and core strength), as I get quite a bit of cardio already with all my walking, but alas my arms are weak.

Hopefully by the end of this summer, I’ll be stronger and more buff because honestly that’s all I want in life right now.

And finally, as the title of this post suggests, I kind of went off and drafted a new wip over the past two months instead of literally anything else. Instagram posts? Nope. Editing Ghosts of the Steel Road for publication? Never heard of her.

I couldn’t even take the time or brain power to make blog posts, because all I could think about was my silly little characters.

But, the draft of that new novel is complete at 72k words! Longer than any novel’s first draft I had completed before, as a chronic underwriter, so I am a little terrified as to how long the novel will be after I do edits, but we shall see.

The current title for this novel is The Unwanted Sacrifice, and it’s about dragons, learning how to live life, and both gods and mortals being just terrible. I made a short introduction and a comic sans powerpoint over on my Tumblr if you would like to hear more!

And, seriously, ask me questions about it. I could talk about this novel all day.

In addition, I did hit 50k words in May without really even trying, so I’m at 130k for the year so far. I do want to keep up this habit of writing every day, as it has been great for me, but I know I also need to give some time eventually to edit the two novel drafts I’ve written so far this year, along with getting Ghosts of the Steel Road ready for publication AND likely editing that novel’s sequel (which will be the next draft to write), as I would like to get that full trilogy out before I start publishing a second trilogy.

That’s about all for this update. Barring me becoming completely engrossed in another new story, it’ll be back to weekly blog posts here, along with posts on Instagram!

Let’s see how well I do.
